In Iraq we partner with The Refuge Initiative who have been in Northern Iraq working with Refugees for the last 7 years.

In 2014 ISIS brought terror to Iraq. Millions of people have been displaced and have run for their very lives. There are massive camps that are overrun with people, causing sanitation issues, health concerns – both physical and emotional, and there’s no-one to care for the individual needs of each person.

There has to be a better way. How can we better care for refugees?

This is how The Refuge Initiative is responding:

  1. We build micro-camps. Self-governed. Allowing family groups to stay together in a village style setting, with home units, kitchens and bathrooms.
  2. We provide wholistic care. That includes trauma counseling, community support and spiritual care.
  3. We equip refugees with pathways back to independence, including education, vocational training, and job creation.

These are not your ordinary refugee camps. We are building communities of hope.
